KONSTANTIN KOROVIN (1861–1939) BOULEVARD IN PARIS AT NIGHT Starting price: 340 000 CZK (13 600 EUR) Hammer price: 340 000 CZK (13 600 EUR) Description dimensions: 31,5 x 39 cm (h x w) period: 1933, France, Paris / Oil on wood. Signed and dated lower left "Konstant Korovin Paris" and lower right in Cyrillic "Konstantin Korovin 1933" Konstantin Korovin is considered the first Russian impressionist. He first encountered this new, modern style through his professor at the Academy in Saint Petersburg, Vasily Polenov. He himself later made numerous visits to Paris, where the nighttime landscape filled with lights and strange contrasts inspired him to create a number of canvases featuring Parisian boulevards at night. This small painting dates from the period when the author had permanently settled in Paris.
