Most letters are written in connection to the royal academy of arts in Antwerp (Koninlijke Academie voor Schoone Kunsten) and addressed to the chairmen or administrators of the academy, i.a. Gustave Wappers (1840-1852), Nicaise de Keyser (1855-1879), Jacques Wappers and Isidore Opsomer (1936-1945 and 1946-1949). Letters from the following artists: Jules de Bruycker (1870-1945, 2 letters), Frans Courtens (1854-1943, 4 letters), Edgar Farasyn (1858-1938), Victor Gilsoul (1867-1939, 3 letters), Henri Leys (1815-1869), Constantin Meunier (1831-1905), Auguste Oleffe (1867-1931, 2 letters), Egide Rombaux (sculptor, 1865-1942, 3 letters), Alfred Stevens (1828-1906), Joseph Stevens (1819-1892, 2 letters) and their brother and art critic Arthur Stevens. Comprises also letters by the authors Lode Zielens and Hendrik Conscience (as head clerk of the Antwerp art academy, together on 1 leaf with the chairman/ director and artist Gustave Wappers) as well as composers Peter Benoit (1834-1901) and Louis de Vocht (1887-1977).
