Hand-colored frontispiece, title vignette and 24 half-page woodcuts representing letters of the alphabet. Square 16mo, 19th-century straight-grained morocco, covers with gilt-decorated borders, rebacked with portion of original backstrip laid down, g.e.; original printed orange wrappers bound in; full morocco folding box. Rare American printing based upon an earlier version published in London by John Harris, 1813. At the end is a 5-verse "Hymn" for children to recite. Rosenbach 813.
