This portrait may have been painted to mark his elevation to that office.
Glue relined. Dense varnish layer. One patched and inpainted hole measuring 3/4 inch x 1/2 inch at the upper left edge of the sitter's wig; the shadow of the sitter's cuff at lower left is also inpainted
