JOHN GRAHAM (Fl c. 1810-1820)?An Album containing twenty -five pen and ink sketches,?titled on spine 'Sussex 1814'?The twenty-five drawings within the album mostly annotated?with occasional descriptive text.?subjects include 'Brighton from the Offing, Aug 30'; The Jason, Frigate',?Seat on Rottingdean Cliff, Sept; Cliffs near Rottingdean; Shoreham?Church; Arundel from the Turnpike; Arundel Castle; Arundel Church;?Seaford from the Martello Tower; Entrance to Hastings from the London Road;?Ashburnham Place; Powder Mill in Battle Park.?page size 5 1/4 x 8in (13.4 x 20.3cm)?? The album commences with a manuscript account, written while John Gaham was staying at Rottingdean. He refers to trips to Brighton and Eastbourne with the Misses Harper and more strenuous excursions to Worthing, Arundel, Hastings, Battle, Crowhurst and Bexhill with a Mr Sharpe???? Sold with a small Sketch Book containing eleven pencil sketches by Joseph?Powell, principally wood landscape views at Charton, Toddington, Leckhampton,?Tilsworth, Cheltenham and Hendon Churchyard., page size 3 1/2 x 4in; and two sketchbooks containing approx 50 drawings?by the Rev. Charles Hemsley landscapes in the Lake District, 1847,?including views at Ullswater, Derwent Water and Windermere; four (4)
