JOHANNES Gallensis. Summa collationum, sive Communiloquium . [Ulm: Johann Zainer], [14]81. Chancery 2 (266 x 183mm). Collation: [1-2 6 3-24 8 ] (1/1r blank, 1/1v register, 3/1 blank, 3/2 table, 3/6r prologue, 4/1 text, 24/8 blank). 186 (of 188, without blank 3/1 and 24/8) leaves. 40 lines and headline. Type: 4:96 a G, 5:136G. RUBRICATION DATED 1483 with major initials opening each Distinctio in intertwining red and blue, smaller initials, paragraph marks, capital strokes and underlining in red, inscription on 24/7r: "de quo laus honor et gloria altissimo sine fine Amen 1483", ms. guide-letters. (Light dampstain at upper margin in some leaves.) 19th-century mottled calf, spine blind-tooled in compartments (some wear, mostly at hinges). Provenance : MS corrections and annotations in a contemporary hand. A very good copy with dated inscription by its contemporary rubricator of the fourth edition of Johannes Gallensis's exposition on the ecclesiastical community. It was printed by the first printer at Ulm, Johann Zainer. The colophon is date 1281, doubtless an error for 1481. H *7443; BMC II, 527 (IB.9197); Goff J-331; IDL 2730; IGI 5268.
