The intimately well-known Šíma-style silhouette of a female nude emerges from the surface, and yet the graceful outline is entirely covered with clusters of torn bits of text. The dynamic nature of the surface is underlined by the green line running crosswise through the space, dividing it according to the type of chiasmage. A major Czech artist, poet, translator, experimenter and organizer, Kolář developed through various stages in his work from an autodidact with roots in poetry into a highly acclaimed European artist. He became a legend during his lifetime and to this day he remains in high demand at international galleries and auction houses.
