Title: ["Jewish Ritual Murder" - in Russian] Author: Brant, Eugen Place: Belgrade, Yugoslavia Publisher: Date: 1926, 1927, 1929 Description: 3 volumes. 8, iv, [9]-183, [1]; 232; 222, [2] pp. With 17 plates from photographs, engravings & other sources. 21x14 cm (8¼x5½"), original wrappers (vol. 3 front wrapper illustrated). First Edition. Rare first edition of this anti-semitic polemic by the Russian emigré Eugen Brant. The author presents pseudo-historic evidence of Jewish ritual murders, largely based on the Old Testament and the Talmud and claims from the 5th through 18th century (in volume 1); “revelations” about Jews converted to Christianity and 19th century accounts (volume 2); and late 19th century and 20th century accusations in volume 3. This last volume includes an account of and pictures relating to the case of Menahem Mendel Beilis, a Russian Jew accused of ritual murder in Kiev in the Russian Empire in a notorious 1913 trial, known as the "Beilis trial" or "Beilis affair". The process sparked international criticism of the anti-semitic policies of the Russian Empire. No copies of the book are listed in OCLC/WorldCat, not listed in the National Library of Russia, and there are no records of sale at auction. Volumes 2 and 3 with the red inkstamp of M.A. Bodisco, San Francisco, to the front wrapper. Lot Amendments Condition: The wrappers and contents of the first two volumes with some browning, light foxing to wrappers of volume 3; very good. Item number: 271757
