Jefferson, Thomas, third president Printed broadside document signed ("Th:Jefferson") on a full sheet of laid paper (16 1/4 x 20 5/8 in.; 412 x 524 mm), accomplished in a clerical hand, [Washington &] Philadelphia, after 19 November 1804, being a four-language ship's paper for the West Indian, a ship of 90 and 79/95 tons, commanded by John J. Guyer of Charleston, bound for Kingston Jamaica laden with "sundries per manifest," countersigned by the Secretary of State James Madison and the Deputy Customs Collector of Philadelphia John Graff embossed paper seal of the United States and with that of the notary Benjamin Nondell on an attached printed slip; formerly folded, waterstain in lower right corner affecting but not obscuring text. Elaborately matted, glazed and framed with photograph of a portrait sculpture and with a metal plaque.
