A group of autograph and printed material documenting the friendship between Robinson and Una Jeffers, and collector Zena G. Holman, including: 1. Two Autograph Letters Signed ("Robinson Jeffers"), 2 pp, 4to, Tor House, Carmel, California, December 21, 1950 & January 12, 1951, to Zena Holman, with one original transmittal envelope, the first regarding Jeffers' trip to New York to see the Broadway production of Tower Beyond Tragedy, his praise of Judith Anderson's performance as Clytemnestra, his dislike of the direction and set; the second commenting on a poem Holman has sent ("beautiful ... I could not read it without tears"), and on various existing photographs of himself. 2. 4 pp broadsheet newsletter, Lights and Shadows from the Lantern, Vol I No 7, November, 1962, featuring the prose piece "All the Corn in One Barn" by Jeffers on the first page, signed ("Robinson Jeffers") and inscribed, "Inscribed for Zena G. Holman," with original envelope. 3. Playbill for Medea, New York: October, 1947, adapted by Robinson Jeffers for a production at the American National Theater, inscribed by Jeffers to Holman, and additionally signed by lead actors JOHN GIELGUD, JUDITH ANDERSON, FLORENCE READ, producer OLIVER RAE, and Una Jeffers. 4. Program for Gielgud's production of "Meadea," at the Edinburgh International Festival of Music and Drama, Royal Lyceum Theatre, 22 August to 12 September 1948, signed by several cast members, including CATHLEEN NESBITT, EILEEN HURLIE, HECTOR MacGREGOR, RALPH MICHAEL, and director Gielgud, with original transmittal envelope. WITH: Additional material including a 4 by 2 1/2 inch silver print photograph of Robinson Jeffers and Albert Bender at Tor House; 2 ALS from Una Jeffers to Holman, 2 pp; an ALS from Theodore Lilienthal to Holman; and a few related items of printed ephemera.
