Rare fauteuil en métal laqué vert à assise carrée, dossier bandeau droit et accotoirs à manchettes plates, reposant à l'avant sur deux pieds en métal tubulaire courbé et soudé et sur deux montants profilés à l'arrière. Garniture de l'assise et du dossier recouverte d'une moleskine verte. Etiquette d'origine sous une traverse marquée «EDF CD 31». Vers 1935. H: 78 cm l: 64 cm P: 50 cm A rare green lacquered metal armchair with tubular metal front legs and streamlined uprights at the back. The seat and backrest are covered in green leatherette. The original label is under the crosspiece marked «EDF CD 31». Circa 1935. En 1934, le chiffre d'affaire de la société «Les Ateliers Jean Prouvé S.A» est en diminution sensible. Les grosses affaires de la Cité de la Muette à Drancy, l'hôtel de ville de Boulogne-Billancourt ainsi que l'étude suivie de la réalisation de bureaux et de fauteuils pour la Compagnie parisienne de distribution d'électricité permettront d'améliorer le rendement de la société. Le fauteuil de bureau à accotoirs a été réalisé pour la Compagnie parisienne de distribution d'électricité SA d'après le plan intitulé «120 fauteuils C.P.D.E» et dessiné par Robert Feck le 12 février 1935. Les pieds arrière en tôle pliée sont profilés, les pieds avant sont tubulaires. Le support des accoudoirs est en tube écrasé et la garniture est en cuir. Un second plan sera proposé en mars 1935 par Jean-Marie Glatigny qui illustrera ce fauteuil avec siège et dossier en cuir. Jean Prouvé expliquera en 1981 que ce fauteuil a la qualité d'être extrêmement confortable, qualité qui sera reprise par le grand fabricant américain Knoll. In 1934 the «Les Ateliers Jean Prouvé S.A» company's turnover was decreasing however the important transactions with the Cite de la Muette of Drancy and Boulogne-Billancourt's town hall as well as the work achieved for the offices and armchairs of the Compagnie Parisienne de Distribution d'Electricité permitted to improve the situation. An office chair was made for the company following the plan called «120 fauteuils C.P.D.E» and designed by Robert Feck on February 12th 1935. The folded sheet metal back legs are stream lined and the front legs are tubular. The armrest supports are in crushed tube and the covering is in leather. A second plan was proposed in 1935 by Jean- Marie Glatigny who illustrated this armchair with a leather seat and backrest. In 1981 Jean Prouvé explained that the quality of this chair was that it was extremely comfortable and this idea of quality and comfort was taken up again by the great American manufacturer, Knoll
