While Warhol’s experience in the art world amounted to over three decades of charisma and controversy by 1982, at the time, Basquiat could count only a few seasons in the public eye. As a friendship, their time together was legendary, each contributing to the social aura of the other: Warhol lent Basquiat his legendary gravitas, while Basquiat invigorated Warhol with a spirit of youth.
