Jean Goodwin Ames (1903-1986 Claremont, CA) Print Mid-20th century, an eight-piece group of hand-painted ceramics, each signed verso, the first: titled verso: ''Primavera'', a charger of shallow form with a flaring rim, in an all-over light pink crackle glaze centered by a hand-painted winged figure and two fawns over a blue ground, raised on a short ring foot (1.75'' H x 17'' Dia.); the second: a shallow bowl hand-painted with patterning and female faces to reserve and verso (1.625'' H x 9.5'' Dia.); the third: a white-glazed hand-painted plate inscribed to rim ''je t aime / a la jolie'', centered by a female face (1.125'' H x 9.5'' Dia.); the fourth: titled verso: ''Fruit Spirits'', a shallow square-shaped bowl with rounded edges in an all-over light pink crackle glaze hand-painted to reserve with figures and fruit (1.5'' H x 9.625'' W x 9.625'' D); the fifth and sixth: each titled verso ''Fruit Spirit'', each plate with upturned rim in an all-over light pink crackle glaze hand-painted to reserve with fairies and fruit (each: .75'' H x 8.5'' Dia.); the seventh: titled verso: ''Hollow Tree'', a square-shaped plate with upturned rim in an all-over light pink crackle glaze hand-painted to reserve with owls in a tree (1'' H x 6.625'' W x 6.625'' D); the eighth: titled verso: ''Unicorn and Birds'', a rounded-edge plate in an all-over yellow crackle glaze hand-painted to reserve with a unicorn and pink birds (.75'' H x 6.625'' W x 6.5'' D), 8 pieces, Provenance: Estate of Ruth and Dalzell Hatfield, Los Angeles, CA. Condition: Each in overall good condition. General light scratches and scuffs commensurate with age. The second and third each with a few minor inherent firing flaws. All but the second and third with artist-made holes and wire for hanging verso.
