Wove paper. 10 lithographed portrait frontispieces of botanists after Alexis Noel by Langlumé, 999 (of 1000) STIPPLE-ENGRAVED PLATES PRINTED IN COLOURS AND FINISHED BY HAND by Dubreuil and Veron after Sainte-Hilaire. (Lacking plate number 714 "Luzerne cultivée", text browned and spotted, marginal in the main, but occasionally heavy and affecting the plates.) Contemporary red half morocco gilt, spines in five compartments with raised bands, lettered in three, the top and bottom compartments with the arms and crowned monogram respectively of LOUIS-PHILIPPE, DUC D'ORLEANS (Damage to upper covers of vols. V and IX, severe damage to upper cover of vol. X). Provenance : Louis-Philippe I, King of France (1773-1850, bindings, library stamps on titles 'Duc d'Orleans' and 'Bibliothèque du Roi (Neuilly)').
