JAMES MCNEILL WHISTLER (1834-1903) The Long House (The Dyers, Amsterdam) etching and drypoint, 1889, on laid paper, watermark N Vorster , signed with the butterfly on the tab and annotated imp , a fine, richly printed impression of Glasgow's third state (of six), inscribed No. 6 in a circle on the reverse (possibly a reference to the date of printing - at least six impressions of the Dutch etchings were printed on 6 March 1890), in addition to the 14 impressions in all states recorded so far by the Whistler Etchings Project, trimmed to the plate as published, occasional unobtrusive remains of old adhesive at the sheet eges on the reverse, generally in very good condition Image, Sheet: 165 x 271 mm.
