JACOBUS DE CLUSA (1381-1465; also cited as Jacobus de Paradiso or Jacobus de Jüterborg). De veritate dicenda aut tacenda . [Basel: Martin Flach, not after 1474]. Chancery 2° (265 x 185mm). Collation: [1 1 0 2 1 0 ]. 19 (of 20) leaves (lacking final blank). 32 lines. Type: 1:117G. 3-4-line initials in red, with underlining, paragraph marks and capital strokes in red. ('Agnetis' partially erased from fourth line on first page with resultant small hole, single wormhole running throughout.) 18th-century marbled sheep, gilt ownership stamp on upper cover, oval arabesque on the lower (rubbed and scuffed). Provenance : Würzburg, Engelgarten, Carthusians (binding stamped Cartusiae Hortae Angelorum ; Robert B. Hale, Alderley, Glos. (bookplates); F.Fasting, Rio de Janeiro (ink stamp). FIRST EDITION. Evidence of an early index tab on the first leaf indicates that this work formed part of a larger Sammelband . It can be dated from the Uppsala copy which is known to have been bought in 1474.
