JACKIE ROBINSON AUTOGRAPHED LETTER A letter dated January 4, 1960 to Mr. Ray Robinson, editor of Coronet Magazine from baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson. The three paragraph letter explains Robinson's position on the upcoming 1960 Presidential elections. Contrary to Ray Robinson's belief, Jackie Robinson enthusiastically supports Richard Nixon over any Democratic candidate save Senator Hubert Humphrey. Robinson states "Would you have me support a Kennedy who met with one of the worst segregationist in private..." . Robinson concludes, "I don't feel I'm being misled. As in the past I must do and say what I believe. Each of us is entitled to our own beliefs and can oppose opinions. Still I must stand on what I believe to be right, not what others think." . The letter is typed on Chock full o' Nuts stationary and signed in blue, Jackie . Framed and matted with two photos of Robinson. 6 x 8 in.
