Sicily: c. 1810]. 4to (280 x 230 mm). Each image within a black boarder, accomplished on laid paper and trimmed and corner mounted into the album. Each image captioned in ink at a contemporary date. Early tan morocco gilt, covers and spine elaborately inlaid with various colored leathers in a floral pattern, all edges gilt and gauffered. Condition : internally quite clean; binding a bit soiled and rubbed. The imaginative and lively images include locals from Val di Mazara, Val di Mone, Val di Noto, Calabrese and Sicily. The first two images are set within mats, the others as described above. The dating of the volume to c. 1810 is based on an 1808 watermark on one image.
