Black cloth with gilt-lettered spine, pictorial dust jacket. First UK Edition. Inscribed by Gysin to Stanley Bard, owner and manager of the Chelsea Hotel, and with a second inscription to Richard Aaron: "For Stanley Bard of The Chelsea Hotel in present time, Brion. - And now for Richard Aaron, Paris, 31 March 1979." Stanley Bard was noted for accepting works of art and literature in lieu of rent at the infamous Chelsea Hotel. Gysin lived at the Chelsea in the late 60's and early 70's, and had a room on the far east end of the 7th floor, near William Burroughs. Gysin shared room 703 with John Giorno at the time. Brion Gysin was a painter, writer, sound poet, and performance artist born in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. He is best known for his discovery of the cut-up technique, used by his friend, the novelist William S. Burroughs.
