Miles played a leading role in nearly all of the U.S. Army's campaigns against the American Indian tribes of the Great Plains. Bookplate from the Pacific-Union Club with inscription "Presented to Pacific-Union Club Library by Mr. W.H. Crocker, 1923". William Henry Crocker was the son of Charles Crocker and served as the Chairman of the Panama-Pacific Exposition Committee.
