Beschreibung:

Araucarioxylon arizonicum Chinle Formation, Arizona Harvested on property just adjacent to the renowned Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona, this is a superlative and most unusual example of the world's most sought-after petrified wood. While specimens from this region are known for their breathtaking array of saturated colors, this striking decorative piece is far more unusual than the vast majority of petrified wood from this locality-or any other. The warm earth-toned polished face explores sienna, ochre and creams-except for several thundercloud-hued and lavender-tinged streaks that contain smoky charcoal segments. Petrified wood is formed when trees are quickly covered with silica-rich sediments that later seep slowly into the trees, cell by cell, and harden into quartz. The coloration results from the presence of trace elements and minerals in the sediments. Destined to become a fascinating centerpiece of any room it occupies- it is sized appropriately for a coffee table- this is a striking and most unusual petrified wood plank, measures 60 x 23 x 2in.
