Co., Providence, RI, 1895, retailed Shreve, Crump & Low Co ., Boston, MA Engraved to verso, "Presented to William Whitman by the Stockholders of the Arlington Mills/The following preamble and vote, were passed unanimously at the Annual Meeting held January 29th 1895/'Whereas Mr. William Whitman has served the Arlington Mills as its Treasurer for twenty five consecutive years, and whereas the development of the corporation the enlargement of its mills and the successful conduct of its business has been primarily due to his energy, prudence and foresight/Voted, that the President George A. Nickerson be requested to procure and present to Mr. Whitman in the name and behalf of the corporation, a piece of plate suitably inscribed as a token of our appreciation of his high ability and his wise and vigorous administration of office,'" the tray with heavily cast and applie rim, raised on six paw feet, marked to underside.
