Sei anni pi tardi anche il minore dei fratelli Arpels, Louis, entr nella societ di famiglia. Il loro immediato successo spinse i soci ad espandersi verso importanti localit della Francia, cos come verso l'estero. Nel 1930 Louis Arpels cre la prima "minaudire", una scatola liscia d'oro con scompartimenti nascosti, che poteva contenere tutti gli oggetti necessari ad una donna elegante. Nel 1935 la casa rivoluzion il mondo della gioielleria introducendo le montature invisibili, dove le gemme erano montate senza alcun segno visibile della montatura. Rispondendo alle esigenze di uno stile di vita pi informale, essi introdussero il loro reparto "Boutique" nel 1954, un concetto ripreso in seguito da altri gioiellieri. Van Cleef & Arpels tuttora gestito dalla famiglia ed ha negozi in tutto il mondo. In 1906, Alfred Van Cleef and two of his brothers-in-law, Charles and Julien Arpels, opened the first shop at the Place Vendome. Six years later, the youngest Arpels brother, Louis, joined the family firm. Their immediate success prompted the partners to expande to important resorts in France as well as abroad. In 1930, Louis Arpels created the first "minaudire", a sleek gold box with hidden compartments which held all items essential for the well-dressedlady. In 1935 the firm revolutionised jewellery by introducing the invisible setting, whereby gemstones were mounted without any visible signes of the setting. In responseto a more casual lifestyle, they introduced their "Boutique" department in 1954, a concept embraced by other jewellers. Van Cleef & Arpels is still directed by the family with locations worldwide. (4)
