Lot of 2. Civil War identification disc, 1.125 in. dia., bearing a patriotic "Union" shield on obverse, surrounded by text reading, "Against Rebellion / 1861." Reverse with "Oliver C. Jones / Co. I / 1st. / Del. / Vol." at center. Oliver C. Jones enlisted as a private and served with Co. I, 1st Delaware Infantry. The regiment brought 288 men to Gettysburg, three of whom were awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions in battle. Jones's disc was found near the site of the 2nd Corps Union field hospital at Gettysburg, and, according to the National Archives, Jones was present doing daily duty as a nurse at the regimental hospital, July-August 1863.
