HUMPHRY DAVY (1778-1829); & MICHAEL FARADAY (1781-1867) Autograph letter, signed 'H. Davy', 'Monday', 4pp, 8, to 'My dear Lord [Holland], responding to an enquiry regarding mercury vapour which he says has produced 'very serious effects on the constitution...I would not like to live in such a room, though certainly rather at Holland House than anywhere else'. Davy advises Lord Holland not to read books washed with such a solution and, although he is 'ignorant of the natural history of the bookworm; I will however soon find it out', suggesting that a solution of lead may be an effective cure (slightly stained on folds). One-page autograph letter, signed 'M. Faraday', from the Royal Institution, 26th March 1838, 8, to S. Hall Esq, thanking him for his copy of Suggestions for the arrangement of the Athenaeum Library (laid down on blue paper). (2)
