Small 4to, antique yapp vellum, edges stained red, by Bernard Middleton, without the second title-leaf (fol. A1) present in some copies, Hudson's Bay map largely in facsimile, the other maps laid down and with a few marginal repairs, world map slightly stained and with one long repaired internal tear, a few neat marginal repairs to text leaves . First Latin edition, containing THE FIRST PRINTED ACCOUNT OF HUDSON'S THIRD AND FOURTH VOYAGES IN SEARCH OF A NORTHWEST PASSAGE, THE FIRST LATIN EDITION OF PEDRO FERNANDEZ DE QUIROS'S EIGHTH MEMORIAL, AND THE FIRST MAPS TO DEPICT BOTH EXPLORERS' DISCOVERIES, first and last leaves blank, woodcut illustrations on verso of title and C2v, 3 folding engraved maps: Hudson's Bay region, double hemispherical world map (second state, with "N. Albion" inserted in California and the Pacific coast extended north to the Strait of Anian), and northern Russia. "In spite of its small size, [the world] map has been carefully drafted to incorporate the latest discoveries. There are notes on it relating to Hudson's discoveries in the northern parts of America and De Quiros' explorations in the Pacific...
