Huanghuali Wood Table Chest, China, 17th century, rectangular, with two doors and a shaped cover top, all hinged with rectangular brass fittings, structure with four drawers and an open compartment on the top, two brass loop holes to one side to secure the cover, two bronze handles to sides, 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 9 in. Provenance: Malcolm Swenson at Hanover, New Hampshire. Mr. Swenson periodically lived and worked in China from 1974, and many of his furniture collections were featured in the exhibition, Classic Chinese Furniture, jointly organized by Robert Ellsworth (1929-2014) and held in memory of Cui Wei Lian (1935-2004) at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate in 2004.
