HORATIUS Flaccus, Quintus. Poemata , edited by Henri Estienne, [Geneva: H. Estienne, 1575]. 8°, device on title, woodcut headpieces and initials, with the 2 blanks (worm trace affecting verse on title and 3 bottom lines of the following 2 leaves, old paper repairs to title verso and other wormed areas, h6 holed, clean long tear to a2 of index), 17th-century calf, sides with wide roll-tool border surrounding a pattern of fleurs-de-lis (rebacked and extensively restored), g.e. Provenance : "Libraria Muza," stamp on title. FIRST ESTIENNE EDITION of Horace, and also the first edition of Horace printed in Geneva, with Henri Estienne's notes printed along the margins and 5 dissertations ( diatribae ) on Horatian poetry.
