Manuscript, two homilies for Shabbat Zachor, in handwriting of Rabbi Ben Zion Meir Chai Uziel, “which I have delivered in Raban Yochanan Ben Zakai Synagogue in Jerusalem”. [Jerusalem, 1909-1910]. Each homily contains approximately ten pages, first homily from 1909 and second from 1910. Rabbi Ben Zion Chai Uziel (1881-1953) was born in Jerusalem to Rabbi Yosef Raphael of a family with a long lineage of Jerusalem rabbis, descendants of the Chikrei Lev. At age 20, he was appointed rabbi in the Tiferet Yerushalayim Yeshiva and in 1910, as Sephardic rabbi of Jaffa. In 1921, he went to Salonika (Greece) to serve as Chief Rabbi, and in 1923 he returned to serve as Chief Rabbi of Tel-Aviv Jaffa. In 1939, he was in London as an emissary and representative of the Yishuv in Eretz Yisrael, and that same year was appointed as Chief Rabbi and Rishon L'Zion in Eretz Yisrael. Some of his books: Mishpetei Uziel, Michmanei Uziel, HaShofet V’HaMishpat, and others. Notebook, 22 written pages. 25 cm. Good condition.
