Gothic, roman, italic and civilité types, typographic musical notation. 14 folded engraved panoramas (2 combining 2 copperplates, 9 joining 3 plates, 4 panoramas forming a continuous strip of 4 plates each). Engraved emblematic vignette on both titles, 2 full-page illustrations of raised theatrical stages, 14 full-page emblems of the competing dramatic societies (emblem of Schiedam chamber printed upside down), one woodcut cartouche. (Several engravings slightly cut into, wormhole at the beginning slightly affecting text and 2 engravings, minor staining.) Contemporary Dutch vellum with overlapping edges. The book is OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR THEATRICAL HISTORY on the Continent at the time of Shakespeare. RARE IN COMPLETE CONDITION, with the indispensable second part illustrating the entry of the Haarlem Chamber, and the libretto of its musical drama.
