HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW (1807-1842); SIR ARTHUR SULLIVAN (1842-1900); SIR WILLIAM SCHWENCK GILBERT (1836-1911) & OTHERS Autograph manuscript verse signed ("Henry W. Longfellow"), 4 lines, oblong 8°, dated December 20 1865, from his poem The Day is Done , beginning "The night shall be filled with music," crudely mounted on card (a few spots). Autograph letter signed ("Arthur Sullivan"), to Lady Katherine, 2 pages, 8°, 9 Albert Mansions, S.W., Tuesday, declining an invitation, beginning: "I have looked forward with so much pleasure to paying you a visit next Saturday, that my disappointment at not being able to come is all the greater." Autograph drawings in ink, signed ("Drawn by W.S. Gilbert for Sybil Loke at Rickmansworth"), one page, 8°, October 1881. With one folio and two quarto albums of autograph letters, cards and ephemera, mostly relating to European royal families, nobility and ambassadors in the late 19th century. (qty)
