Presentation copies from Hegel are extremely rare, we can trace only one other inscribed work at auction in the last 40 years. The recipient, Philip Marheineke (1780-1846) was a prominent follower of Hegel, an editor of his collected works, and the leader of the Hegelian Right following the philosopher's death in 1831.
