In his 1973 short story, "The Boogeyman," Stephen King said of Ingels, "he could draw every god-awful thing in the world - and some out of it." Little is known about Ingels' personal life, except that he had problems with alcohol and abandoned his family after the Comics Code ended his comics career. Years later he surfaced in Florida, where he was giving private art lessons, keeping a low profile, and refusing to discuss his past.
