His collection of 67 autograph letters signed, written to him by prominent Victorian figures, including John RUSKIN (1819-1900) 1 page, 8vo , [n.d.], and artists (W[illiam] P[owell] FRITH, J[ames] D[uffield] Harding, P.R. Morris, T.M. Joy, with print), sculptors (Joseph DURHAM F.J.WILLIAMSON, John BELL , poets (Emily Jane Pfeiffer, Lydia Huntley Sigourney, Maria Jane Jewsbury), literary figures and authors (Percy Fitzgerald, J.F. Molloy, Ernest Hartley COLERIDGE), journalists (Thomas Campbell Foster), singers, actors and composers (Catherine Hayes, Ellen Ward, Brinley Richards) and parliamentarians and activists (Sir Theodore Martin, R.R. Moore); and a signature, a seal, and 8 autograph letters to Hall's friend, W.H. Goss, and a note from HALL; together with : an album of HALL's poetry and prose, manuscript and printed, some loosely inserted, folio, upper cover titled in gilt, 'Poems, S.C.Hall'. S.C. Hall, editor of the Art Journal , and a leading figure in the Art Union movement, championed the cause of modern British painters and sculptors. (79)
