Groupe unique en porcelaine représentant une femme et un jeune Maure, Meissen, circa 1920 A Meissen group of a lady and boy (Dame mit Mohrenknabe), circa 1920Unique Example Painted by Paul Scheurich signed and dated 'Scheurich/ 1920' on the base in black, on a hexagonal base, her dress, hat and shoes finely edged in shades of turquoise, the hat with silvered ribbons and tassels, the boy's costume decorated in iron-red and gilding with flowers on the trousers and slippers, and turquoise earrings, a similary decorated cushion at the rear, incised signature on edge of base 'Scheurich/ 19', 28cm high crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, incised model number F. 274., impressed former's number 36 (her right hand restuck, restoration to tip of her left shoe and to fingers on boy's left hand)FootnotesProvenance: Wolfgang Müller von Baczko (1894-1947), Director of the Meissen Manufactory 1936-40 Literature: Rafael 1995a, ill. 14.6 Exhibited: Meissen, Schauhalle der Staatlichen Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, 21 September 1995-10 January 1996; Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 This documentary group was one of several painted by Scheurich himself with different decorative schemes.
