Lot of five scarce 3.75" x 6.25" cases, each which opens to reveal space for four matted sixth-plate photographs, including a dark mahogany case featuring a floral arrangement motif, housing two hand-tinted ambrotype portraits of sisters and two empty spaces, PLUS two cases featuring an identical scene of a mother, child, and dog, one of which is cast in black and houses a daguerreotype of two young sisters and three empty spaces, the other cast dark brown housing a hand-tinted ambrotype of two sisters, an ambrotype of a young man, and a burgundy velvet pad, PLUS a mahogany case with a floral design housing a hand-tinted ambrotype of a young woman, a cracked ambrotype of an armed soldier, and two empty spaces, PLUS a light brown case of the same design housing a hand-tinted ambrotype of an older couple, a hand-tinted ambrotype of a father with his baby daughter, and a velvet pad. Condition: 1st, 2nd, and 4th cases in very good-to-excellent condition (condition of photos varies), 3rd in very good condition with a worn and chipped edge, 5th in poor condition with one side broken in half, water damage, holes in case, and broken hinges.
