Lot of 60 images. 10 x 12.5 in. photo of three-masted ship, also steam power (single stack) Two copies of the Spirit of St. Louis flying over a town, plus portrait of Lindbergh. All 10.75 x 13.75 in. with Underwood copyright. Also a small photograph of Lindbergh standing by his plane, 2.5 x 3.25 in. 10.75 x 13.75 portrait with manuscript label on verso "E.B. Birkenbeuel / May 1938." Group of 22 approx. 8 x 10 in. photos: Aerial shot of military base (verso with "Reproduced by 10th Photo Tech. Unit"); second 10th photo Tech. image of just over 30 men in front of quonset hut with "Air Communications Center" on wall behind them; three unlabeled photos of men working on electronic equipment; at least 5 views of the 8624th AAU, Army Security Agency, Hawaii; three views of Ft. Shafter, Oahu - main building and officers' housing; two photos of an officer arriving in Hawaii, piled with leis (possibly Maj. John Browning); photo of Maj. John Browning showing off his catch of brook trout at Ft. Devens; photo of the men playing baseball, possibly in Korea; men of the 501th ASA Group in the Orderly Room; unidentified group of 8 men in uniform; slightly smaller image (6.5 x 8.25 in.) of soldier in front of quonset hut with 413th Signal Company Aviation over the door; unidentified memorial with reflecting pool; 90+ men posed at Yosemite with El Capitan and Yosemite Falls, backstamp "From Virginia and Ansel Adams Operating Best's Studio, Inc. Four approx. 4.5 x 6.75 in. photos on larger cardstock mounts, manuscript labels: Side view of Whitehouse, Washington, DC; Washington's Monument at Washington, DC; residence of Gen. Robert E. Lee; and unidentified entrance to a cemetery. Ten photos of construction, 5 x 7 in. Plus 5 x 7 in. photo of 8624th AAU Fort Shafter baseball team. Three 3.5 x 5 in. photos of signing instrument of surrender by Japanese on USS Missouri Four 3.5 x 5 in. photos that may be the Philippines or other Pacific Island. One shows a sign that reads: Kill the Bastards! Down this road marched one of the regiments of the United States Army / Knights Serving the Queen of Battles / Twenty of their wounded on Litters were bayoneted, shot and clubbed by the Yellow Bastards / Kill the Bastards!" Another has a (chalk?) board with "Show Your Mess Card / No Mess Card / No Chow," two men in uniform stand under the sign, a line of civilians (mostly women and children) wait at the back of the truck. Five more images, two 3.5 x 5 in, the other three smaller, that appear to be (or in two cases are labeled) New Guinea. Both labeled images dated 1944. Large realphoto post card, 3.5 x 7 in. Dated 1911, but message and title in negative not in English. (Google translate detects it as Finnish.) Addressed to an RFD address in Oregon. Two panoramic images, 4.5 x 11.75 in. Shooting Hill on OWRR&H (?), Aug. 12, 1911. Two 4.75 x 6.5 in. One indicates this is the Greenwater gold strike in Nevada. ca 1905-1910. Views of tents and very early automobiles, plus at least one horse-drawn vehicle.
