Stipple-engr. w. aquatint by F. Cazenave after L. Boilly, sheet size 64.5 x 48.5 cm, publ. in Paris "Chez l'auteur", n.d.
Professionally backed and restored in corners/ margins (trimmed inside the plate-mark), sl. foxed. Still an acceptable copy for such a large print. Atlas Van Stolk 3962. W. added documentation: a sm. exhibition catalogue on optical prints held at Atlas Van Stolk in 1982, this print is catalogue no. 1 and reproduced. -and a photocopy of an article by C.J. Caldenbach, "De optica, een leerzaam kijkvermaak", publ. in De Boekenwereld, year 1, nr. 2 p. 3-12 and nr 3. p. 4-12. Here, this print is also reproduced and the 1st ill.: "1. De optica. Aquatint, naar L. Boilly door J.-F. Cazenave. De vrouw is Louise Sébastienne Gély, de tweede echtgenote van Danton. Het jongetje is waarschijnlijk Antoine Danton, het zoontje uit zijn eerste huwelijk."
