Large 2°(555 x 370mm.). 80 hand-coloured lithographed plates by Elizabeth Gould after sketches by Gould, printed by C. Hullmandel, advertisement leaf for the work and the prospectus for the Birds of Europe (laid down) dated June 1st 1832 inserted before the title (final plate and advertisement leaf spotted, a few other plates very lightly spotted). Early 20th Century green half morocco, spine lettered in gilt, uncut. The first issue, with uncoloured backgrounds, of Gould's first work, issued to 298 subscribers in 20 monthly parts, this copy in it's uncut state with wider margins.
