Title: Golf Architecture in America: Its Strategy and Construction - Zane Grey's copy Author: Thomas, George C., Jr. Place: Los Angeles Publisher: The Times-Mirror Press Date: 1927 Description: xxv, 342 pp. Illustrated with numerous plates from photos and golf course plans and maps (1 is folding in the rear), 4 photos are in color including frontispiece; decorative endpapers. 8¾x6, dark blue-green cloth, lettered in light green, red-orange stamped vignette on the front cover, top edge stained green. First Edition. Inscribed presentation copy, signed in the year of publication by the author to Zane Grey, the well-known angling and western fiction author. Signed on the half-title verso: “To Zane Grey – with every good wish from George C. Thomas Jr., Beverly Hills, California, 10/30/27.” Thomas worked with many of the most prominent architects of his era, including Donald Ross A.W. Tillinghast, Hugh Wilson, etc. and built more than two dozen courses during the 1920’s, several of which are in California. Murdoch 767; D&M 36690; D&J T7730. Lot Amendments Condition: Some scuffs to edges, light insect wear to cloth, top page corners nibbled; hinges tender; generally very good. Item number: 191865
