Glenlivet Gordon & MacPhail Generations 70 Year Old 45.9 abv 1940 Distilled on 03.02.40 and bottled on 07.09.10, release number 1, cask number 339, bottle number 40 of 75, original certificate within original wooden case, Swiss import label adhered to rear of bottle 1 bt 20cl (owc) The first 70 year old Glenlivet to be released by the Urquharts as the second instalment of G and M's Generations series, this incredibly rare whisky was distilled during the second world war at a time when whisky production had been ceased at many other distilleries across Scotland. Soon after this distillation Glenlivet was mothballed for 3 years. This cask was selected by John Urquhart and bottled by his grandsons Michael and David Urquhart as one of only 100 beautiful crystal and sterling silver decanters.
