Nina's Song or Nina's Romance is a setting of a text from Lermontov's play Masquerade and dates from 1916. This manuscript clearly commemorates a broadcast of the song in Revel (now Talinn) in Estonia. The Lüdig family were a distinguished family of musicians. Matilda Georgievna Lüdig grew up in St. Petersburg, where she studied singing with Helen von Schrenk, a pupil of Mathilde Marchesi. She performed extensively in Russia before the Revolution and was married to the distinguished Estonian composer, Mikhail Lüdig, a close friend of Glazunov.
