Von den Stufen vor Santa Maria della Salute aus gesehen gleitet der Blick die Mündung des Canal Grande entlang in Richtung des Campanile und des, im rechten Mittelgrund erscheinenden, Dogenpalastes. Ufer und vor allem der Canal Grande sind reich bevölkert mit Gondeln und Personen. Sowohl Licht als auch Wolkenhimmel deuten die sommerliche Atmosphäre an. Das Gemälde ist in einer kühlen, präzisen Farbgebung und in flottem Duktus, wie er für den Malstil des Künstlers charakteristisch ist, ausgeführt. Provenienz: Galleria d’Arte “Petrarca”, Rom. The riverside and especially the Grand Canal are densely populated with gondolas and a number of figures. The light and cloudy sky suggest a summery atmosphere.
