A Fine and Rare Gilt Bronze Stackfreed Pre-balance Spring Striking Clock Watch Unsigned, Circa 1600 Full plate iron movement, verge escapement with foliot and hog's bristle, C-shaped stackfreed, striking on one hammer onto a bell, gilt metal dial, outer chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals and twelve touch pins, engraved inner 24 hour (13 to Z4) Arabic divisions with German "Z" for numeral "2", pinhole for setting the striking, center engraved with sunray motif and a wind rose, single blued steel hand, tambour-shaped case, hinged front cover pierced with twelve heart-shaped openings for the hour markers, engraved floral decorated center and floral and foliate decorated rim, central aperture for the setting of the hand, pierced foliage decorated band, back with pierced and engraved floral and foliage decoration and containing the bell, unsigned 53.5mm diam.
