Agnew's in association with W/S Fine Art, 31 October -23 November 2001. illus. in Fig. ii, The interior of George Richmond's studio, 10 York Street, Portman Square. Lord Leighton is believed to have been the model for the recumbent man. Estimate £3,000-5,000 Oil on cradled panel. Panel has been cradled (horizontal and vertical wooden batons applied to reverse to keep the panel flat). In good condition - one small split in panel support at upper right-hand corner. Paint layer in good condition - a few small losses and chips. Varnish is clear, even and glossy. Appearance is excellent. Chips and losses to gesso and gilding on frame. Under black light it appears fine.
