George Graham London No. 748: A George II walnut longcase clock circa 1745/7 , the boxwood and ebony lined case on double-footed plinth, the rectangular trunk door with outset hinges and twice punched numbered 748 on the inside edge, the hood with brass capped ¾-columns supporting the frieze with intricate foliate pierced blind fret and later shallow caddy top, the 12in. sq. dial signed Geo: Graham London. beneath the brass chapter ring, the finely matted centre with large diameter narrow seconds ring and calendar aperture with pin-hole adjustment, pierced blued hands, double-screwed mask-and- foliate spandrels, maintaining power lever between II and III, latches to the dial feet and substantial five-pillar movement of regulator quality, Graham's deadbeat escapement, bolt-and-shutter maintaining power, lacking backplate bracket to the existing backboard bracket, the plain backplate punch numbered 748 at base, flat brass rod pendulum with large bob and pointer for regulation (lacking nut), brass cased weights; some restoration 7ft.1in. (218cm.) high
