George Dawkes. Leicestershire, Derbyshire & M.C.C. 1937-1961. Commonwealth Cricket Team tour of India, Pakistan & Ceylon 1949-50. Excellent and rare selection of ephemera from the tours including Dawkes official players tour itinerary 1949/50 showing matches to be played, engagements etc, an official invitation card from the Government of Bombay inviting Dawkes to a Ceremonial Parade at the Brabourne Stadium in January 1950, a mono joint team photograph showing the Commonwealth team and the opposing team (unknown) seating and standing in rows, signed by Dawkes and Winston Place in ink (8"x4.75") and a rare official scorecard for the Commonwealth XI v An India XI played at Madras on the 17th-21st February 1950 (India won by 3 wickets). Very good condition
The Commonwealth tour of India, Pakistan & Ceylon 1949-50 from October 1949 to March 1950, played 21 first-class matches, including five against an All-India XI. Approximately half the team were Australians, two were West Indians, and the rest were English. The team included Jock Livingston, Frank Worrell, George Tribe, Bill Alley, Cec Pepper, George Dawkes, George Pope etc.
