The subject of his painting is barely recognisable and becomes slightly obscured amongst the chaotic abstract brushwork that surrounds his centrally located figure. Touching upon his battle against any pictorial hierarchy and emphasizing his search towards a new appreciation of the medium of painting, the present lot is a prime example within the artists topsy-turny body of work. “The hierarchy which has located the sky at the top and the earth at the bottom is, in any case, only a convention.
