There is a degree of wear through the darker tones of the painting. There are a handful of scattered, small losses, and discoloured retouching is visible around the margins and through the saint's sleeves, hands and pages of the book (where there are also some losses). Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals the thick, opaque varnish, beneath which it is impossible to discern any older retouching, though some slightly more recent restoration is found in the saint's forehead and face. The painting is in overall fair condition. Please note that Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.
