FIRST EDITION, second state (presumed) with the words "First Edition" on the copyright page, woodcut illustrations by J.J. Lankes, INSCRIBED BY FROST "For Earle Bernheimer" and with the 16-line poem "A Nature Note on Whippoorwills" WRITTEN OUT AND SIGNED BY FROST on the marbled front free endpaper. The poem first appeared in the Coolidge Hill Gazette for December 1938; it was first collected in A Witness Tree (1942) as "A Nature Note." Crane A10. A very good copy.
